A graphic design thing I like to do is mash two games together and see what their UI would feel like. Usually this pastime doesn't go beyond a mockup of a screen or two, but I figured I'd put that creative exercise to use here on my site.
The theme came to me pretty quickly, before I even registered even. It would mix one game I love and one I've technically never touched but still love all the same; Deemo Reborn × NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. I got visions of the styled title cards of N:JOD in the background with golden corner-flourishes against a dim, dense, purple cloudscape. The main body of each page on the other hand is enclosed in the clean, minimalist-yet-still-stylized boxes from Deemo Reborn. Standardize the colors between the two a little and I think the look would make for a comforting atmosphere I'd love to have in my own personal corner of the internet. It's a vibe I would appreciate being greeted with, even if it comes from someone who almost exclusively identifies himself using cool guy skeletons.
Obviously, that's not done yet, but you'll see me throwing out css tests as I go. Over time this vision'll be realized, and I hope it's as nice as it comes out in my imagination.
